Ingredients

Scale

For the Bread:

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 medium apples (peeled and chopped)
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk

For the Glaze (Optional):

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 teaspoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

  3. Prepare apples: Toss the chopped apples with 1–2 teaspoons of the brown sugar mixture.
  4. Cream butter and sugar: Cream together the butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  5. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs and vanilla until well combined.
  6. Combine dry ingredients: Whisk together the flour and baking powder in a separate bowl.
  7. Combine wet and dry: Add the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture alternately.
  8. Layer batter: Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan, layer with apples and cinnamon-sugar. Repeat layers.
  9. Bake: Bake for 50–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool and glaze: Cool in the pan, then drizzle with glaze if desired.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for best flavor.
  • The bread tastes better the next day and can be frozen for up to 2 months.
