Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Marinade
- 500 grams (1 lb) chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 60 grams (1/2 cup) cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Sauce
- 120 ml (1/2 cup) sweet chili sauce
- 60 ml (1/4 cup) mayonnaise
Garnish & Equipment
- 2 green onions, finely sliced
- Wooden or metal skewers
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, combine the chicken pieces with cornstarch, garlic powder, ginger powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to evenly coat the chicken and let it rest for 15-20 minutes to absorb the flavors and develop a light crust.
- Prepare the skewers: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning during cooking. Metal skewers can be used directly without soaking.
- Cook the chicken skewers: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the prepared skewers. Grill the skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through to ensure even cooking and a crispy exterior. Alternatively, bake the skewers in the oven for 15-20 minutes, flipping once midway, until the chicken is cooked through and lightly golden.
- Prepare the Bang Bang sauce: In a small bowl, combine the sweet chili sauce and mayonnaise. Stir until smooth and creamy, creating the signature Bang Bang dipping sauce.
- Serve: Arrange the cooked skewers on a serving platter, drizzle or serve alongside the Bang Bang sauce, and garnish with finely sliced green onions for a fresh, colorful finish.
Notes
- For extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or sriracha to the Bang Bang sauce.
- Ensure chicken pieces are evenly sized for consistent cooking.
- Soaking wooden skewers prevents them from burning during grilling or baking.
- Can be served with steamed rice or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in a skillet or oven.
