Description
A decadent and fruity berry croissant bake that combines flaky, buttery croissants with fresh berries and a rich cream cheese custard. This easy-to-make breakfast or brunch casserole is baked until golden and set, perfect served warm with a dusting of powdered sugar or syrup for added sweetness.
Ingredients
Scale
Croissants and Berries
- 4 large croissants (broken into small pieces; be sure to use already baked croissants, not dough)
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
- ½ cup blueberries
- ½ cup raspberries
Cream Cheese Custard
- 1 block (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9 x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Layer Croissants and Berries: Evenly spread the broken croissant pieces across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Distribute the sliced strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries evenly over the croissants.
- Make Custard Mixture: Using an electric mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually add in the granulated sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing continuously until the custard mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Combine and Chill: Pour the cream cheese custard mixture evenly over the croissants and berries in the baking dish. Cover the dish with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 14 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the liquid to soak in.
- Bake: Remove the cover and bake the dish in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bake is set firmly in the center.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with syrup for extra sweetness. Enjoy your berry croissant bake!
Notes
- Use fully baked croissants rather than raw dough for the best texture and flavor.
- The bake can be prepared ahead and refrigerated overnight before baking.
- Feel free to substitute different berries or add nuts for crunch.
- Serving warm enhances the creamy texture and flavor.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator and reheat gently before serving.
