Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Berry Croissant Bake featuring flaky croissant pieces, fresh mixed berries, and a creamy custard mixture. Perfect as a warm breakfast or brunch treat, this dish combines the richness of cream cheese custard with the sweetness of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Croissant and Berries

  • 4 large croissants, broken into small pieces (use already baked croissants, not dough)
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries
  • ½ cup blueberries
  • ½ cup raspberries

Custard Mixture

  • 1 block (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9 x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Layer Croissants and Berries: Spread the broken croissant pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish. Distribute the sliced strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries evenly over the croissant pieces.
  3. Make Custard Mixture: Beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until fluffy. Gradually add the granulated sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Pour this custard mixture evenly over the croissants and berries in the baking dish.
  4. Chill Before Baking: Cover the baking dish and place it in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes, or up to 14 hours, to allow the custard to soak into the croissants and berries.
  5. Bake: Remove the cover and bake the dish in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  6. Serve: Serve the Berry Croissant Bake warm. Optionally, sprinkle with powdered sugar or drizzle with syrup for extra sweetness. Enjoy your delicious breakfast or brunch!

Notes

  • Use day-old or leftover croissants for best texture.
  • Make-ahead option: Prepare the dish up to 14 hours in advance and refrigerate before baking.
  • Can substitute mixed berries with your favorite berries or stone fruits.
  • Serve with maple syrup or powdered sugar for added flavor.
  • Ensure croissants are fully baked, not raw dough, to avoid sogginess.
