- ¼ cup Sweet Pickle Relish (Substitution: Chopped dill pickles for a sharper taste)
- 2 tbsp Yellow Mustard
- 1 tsp White Vinegar
- 1¼ tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- â…› tsp White Pepper (Optional)
Smash Burgers
- 1 lb Ground Beef (Preferably 80/20 for optimum juiciness)
- Salt to taste
- Black Pepper to taste (Use fresh ground pepper for more heat)
- 4 slices American Cheese (Substitution: Cheddar or Pepper Jack for different flavor)
Taco Assembly
- 4 medium Flour Tortillas (Use corn tortillas for a gluten-free option)
- ½ cup Shredded Iceberg Lettuce (Substitution: Shredded cabbage for extra crunch)
- ¼ cup Diced White Onion (Substitution: Green onions for a milder taste)
- Dill Pickle Slices (Topping for tartness and crunch)
- Sesame Seeds (Optional garnish for a classic touch)
Instructions
- Make Big Mac Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, white vinegar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and the optional white pepper. Once combined, cover and chill the sauce in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
- Prepare Tortillas: Heat a dry skillet over medium heat. Place each tortilla in the skillet and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until they develop light char marks and become pliable, making them easy to fold into tacos.
- Cook Smash Burgers: Divide the ground beef into four equal balls. Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until very hot. Place each ball of beef on the skillet, and with a spatula, firmly smash it down to form thin patties. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until a crust forms on the bottom, then flip the patties and immediately place a slice of American cheese on each to melt while the other side cooks.
- Assemble Tacos: Spread a generous amount of the chilled Big Mac sauce on each warmed tortilla. Layer shredded lettuce, diced onions, and dill pickle slices on top. Add the hot smash burger with melted cheese. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds on the tacos for a classic Big Mac touch. Fold the tortilla like a taco to enclose the fillings.
- Serve: Serve the tacos warm, accompanied by extra Big Mac sauce on the side for dipping or additional spreading as desired.
Notes
- For a gluten-free option, substitute flour tortillas with corn tortillas.
- You can substitute American cheese with cheddar or pepper jack depending on your flavor preference.
- Using Greek yogurt in place of mayonnaise gives the Big Mac sauce a healthier twist without losing creaminess.
- To add extra crunch, shredded cabbage can replace iceberg lettuce.
- Freshly ground black pepper gives the best flavor and a mild heat to the beef patties.
- Using a cast-iron skillet helps achieve a perfect crust on the smash burgers.
- Allowing the Big Mac sauce to chill enhances the flavor and texture.
