Description

Cheeseburger Eggrolls are crispy, golden bites filled with a savory mixture of ground beef, onions, garlic, and melted cheddar cheese, wrapped in a delicate egg roll wrapper and pan-fried to perfection. A deliciously inventive twist on classic cheeseburgers, these eggrolls make a perfect appetizer or snack for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Filling:

  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil (or vegetable/avocado oil)
  • 1 small Onion, diced (yellow or sweet)
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 pound Ground Beef (or ground turkey/chicken)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce (or soy sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon Ketchup (or barbecue sauce)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Smoked Paprika (or regular paprika)
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese (or mozzarella/pepper jack)

Assembly and Frying:

  • 1 package Egg Roll Wrappers (or spring roll wrappers)
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil (or vegetable/avocado oil) for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add diced onions and minced garlic, sautéing for about 2-3 minutes until the onions become translucent and fragrant.
  2. Cook the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon until browned and fully crumbled.
  3. Season the Mixture: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly before folding in the shredded cheddar cheese to allow it to melt slightly.
  4. Assemble Eggrolls: Lay one egg roll wrapper flat on a clean surface. Moisten the edges with a little water to help seal. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center. Fold in the sides and roll tightly to encase the filling securely.
  5. Fry the Eggrolls: In a skillet, heat enough olive oil to cover the bottom over medium heat. Carefully place the rolled eggrolls in the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, turning gently until the wrappers turn golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain and Serve: Remove the cooked eggrolls with a slotted spoon and drain on a napkin-lined plate to remove excess oil. Serve warm, ideally with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a leaner alternative, substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
  • You can swap Worcestershire sauce with soy sauce and ketchup with barbecue sauce according to your taste preferences.
  • Use spring roll wrappers if egg roll wrappers are not available.
  • Be careful not to overfill the wrappers to prevent them from bursting during frying.
  • Maintain medium heat while frying to ensure thorough cooking and crispy texture without burning.
  • Leftover cooked filling can be refrigerated for up to 2 days but is best used fresh for assembly.
