Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 package (12 count) dinner rolls (Sara Lee brand recommended)
- 1 pound fresh sirloin steak, sliced very thin (or frozen Philly sirloin steak thinly sliced)
- 1 small white onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, seeded and diced
- 4 ounces chive and onion cream cheese
- 6 slices Provolone cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to get it ready for baking the assembled sliders.
- Cook Meat and Vegetables. In a large skillet, cook the thinly sliced sirloin steak according to the package instructions, ensuring it is fully cooked and chopped into bite-sized pieces. In a separate medium skillet, sauté the diced onion and green bell pepper together until tender. Set aside both the meat and vegetables once done.
- Assemble Sliders. Carefully separate the bottoms and tops of the dinner rolls. Arrange the bottom halves in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread the chive and onion cream cheese evenly over the cut sides of the roll bottoms. Layer the cooked meat evenly over the cream cheese, followed by the sautéed onions and peppers. Finally, place the provolone cheese slices uniformly on top of the vegetables.
- Top and Bake. Cover the layered ingredients with the top halves of the dinner rolls. Cover the baking dish tightly with foil to keep the moisture in. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until the provolone cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Rest and Serve. Allow the sliders to stand for 5 minutes after baking to set and cool slightly, which helps prevent the cheese and fillings from spilling out when serving. Enjoy warm!
Notes
- For best results, use thinly sliced sirloin steak to mimic authentic Philly cheesesteak texture.
- If desired, add sliced mushrooms when sautéing the vegetables for extra flavor.
- You can substitute chive and onion cream cheese with regular cream cheese mixed with chopped fresh chives and onion powder if unavailable.
- To make the sliders spicier, consider adding a dash of hot sauce to the cooked meat before assembling.
- These sliders can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving for convenience.
