Ingredients
Scale
Dough & Base
- 1 pound refrigerated pizza dough
Cheeses & Meats
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese
- 24 slices pepperoni
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Seasoning & Others
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce (for dipping)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
- Roll Out Dough: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll the refrigerated pizza dough into a large rectangle approximately 10×14 inches, creating an even layer for toppings.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and provolone cheeses evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border all around to help seal the roll.
- Layer Pepperoni & Seasonings: Arrange 24 slices of pepperoni evenly on top of the cheese. Then sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder over the pepperoni for extra flavor.
- Roll Dough: Starting from one of the long sides, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Tuck in the ends and pinch the seams firmly to seal the stromboli and prevent filling from leaking out during baking.
- Prepare for Baking: Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with the egg wash to develop a golden crust, and cut 3 to 4 small slits on top to allow steam to escape while baking.
- Bake: Bake the stromboli for 20 to 25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and cooked through.
- Finish & Rest: Remove the stromboli from the oven, brush lightly with olive oil to add shine and flavor, and let it rest for 5 minutes to allow the filling to settle.
- Serve: Slice the stromboli into pieces and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- You can substitute cooked sausage or sautéed vegetables for the pepperoni to customize the filling.
- Avoid overfilling the stromboli, as this can cause it to burst while baking.
- Using the egg wash helps achieve a crispy, golden crust.
- Let resting time ensure easier slicing and prevent filling from spilling out.
