Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 1 pound refrigerated pizza dough
Cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Meat
- 24 slices pepperoni
Seasoning & Other
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce (for dipping)
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Roll out the dough: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll the refrigerated pizza dough into a large rectangle about 10×14 inches, ensuring an even thickness.
- Add cheese layers: Evenly sprinkle 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella and 1/2 cup provolone cheese over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges to prevent overflow during baking.
- Layer pepperoni and seasonings: Arrange the 24 slices of pepperoni evenly across the cheese. Then sprinkle 1/4 cup grated Parmesan, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder to infuse flavor.
- Roll and seal the stromboli: Starting from the long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log, tucking in the ends to prevent filling from escaping. Pinch the seams firmly to seal completely.
- Place and vent: Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top generously with the egg wash (beaten egg and water) for a glossy finish. Cut 3 to 4 small slits on the top to allow steam to escape during baking.
- Baking: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown and cooked through.
- Finishing touches: Remove from oven and brush the stromboli lightly with 1 tablespoon olive oil to enhance flavor and moisture. Let it rest for 5 minutes to set before slicing.
- Serve: Slice the stromboli and serve warm with 1/2 cup marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
- You can substitute cooked sausage or sautéed vegetables for the pepperoni to vary the filling.
- Avoid overfilling the stromboli to prevent it from bursting while baking.
