Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Add-ins
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup blue candy coating or sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined to create your dry mixture.
- Cream Butter and Sugars: In a separate large bowl, cream the softened unsalted butter with granulated sugar and packed brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, incorporating air for a tender cookie texture.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each is fully incorporated before adding the next, then stir in the vanilla extract until the batter is smooth.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined to prevent overworking the dough which keeps cookies tender.
- Fold in Mix-ins: Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and the blue candy coating or sprinkles, distributing them evenly throughout the dough.
- Form Cookie Dough Balls: Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart to allow room for spreading.
- Bake Cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown while the centers remain soft for perfect cookie texture. Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool slightly before transferring to a rack.
Notes
- Ensure butter is softened to room temperature for easier creaming and better texture.
- Do not overmix the dough after adding flour to avoid tough cookies.
- You can substitute blue candy coating with blue M&Ms or colored chocolate chips if desired.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before moving to a wire rack to prevent breaking.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
