Description

Enjoy a crunchy and tangy snack with these Crispy Fried Pickles. Coated in a flavorful seasoned batter and panko breadcrumbs, these pickle slices are fried to golden perfection, making them an irresistible appetizer or side dish perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale

Pickle Preparation

  • 1 (16-ounce) jar dill pickle slices

Batter

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ¾ cup water

Coating

  • 1½ cups panko breadcrumbs

For Frying

  • Vegetable oil, for frying (about ½ inch depth in pan)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil: Fill a frying pan with ½ inch of vegetable oil and heat it over medium-high heat until the temperature reaches 350–375°F, suitable for frying.
  2. Prepare pickles: While the oil is heating, drain the pickle slices and place them on paper towels. Pat them dry to remove excess juice, ensuring a crisp coating.
  3. Make batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, and pepper. Gradually add the water while mixing until the batter is smooth and even.
  4. Prepare breadcrumbs: Spread the panko breadcrumbs evenly in a separate shallow dish to prepare for coating the pickles.
  5. Batter and breadcrumb coating: Working in batches, dip the dried pickle slices into the batter, tossing to fully coat them. Next, immediately dip them into the panko breadcrumbs, turning to cover all sides thoroughly for a crunchy exterior.
  6. Fry pickles: Carefully place the coated pickles in the hot oil in batches, frying each side for 1 to 2 minutes or until they achieve a golden brown color and a crispy texture.
  7. Drain and serve: Remove fried pickles from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve immediately, ideally with a side of Ranch dressing for dipping.

Notes

  • Patting the pickles dry is essential to prevent sogginess and to help the batter adhere properly.
  • Maintain oil temperature between 350–375°F for optimal frying—too low and the pickles will be greasy; too high and they may burn.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch compared to regular breadcrumbs.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the best texture and flavor.
  • Can be paired with other dipping sauces like spicy mayo or blue cheese dressing for variety.
