Ingredients
Scale
Tofu
- 14 ounces extra firm tofu, pressed and cubed
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Garnish
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- Prepare Tofu: Pat the tofu dry thoroughly to remove excess moisture, then toss the cubes in cornstarch until evenly coated. This step helps achieve a crispy texture when cooked.
- Cook Tofu: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes in a single layer and cook, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden and crispy, about 8 to 10 minutes. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
- Make Sauce: Reduce the skillet heat to medium. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet, cooking briefly until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, water, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Let the sauce simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Combine Tofu and Sauce: Return the crispy tofu to the skillet and toss gently to coat each piece evenly with the sauce. Cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes until the tofu is heated through and well glazed.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, bake or air fry the tofu instead of pan frying.
- Maple syrup can be used as a vegan substitute for honey.
- Serve over rice or noodles to complete the meal.
