- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients: Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until combined.
- Bake: Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and serve: Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
