Lentil Wrap Ingredients
- 1 cup lentils
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh herbs (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse Lentils: Rinse the lentils thoroughly under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris.
- Cook Lentils: In a pot, combine the rinsed lentils, 2 cups of water, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 20 to 25 minutes until the lentils are tender.
- Drain and Season: Drain any excess water from the cooked lentils. Add garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and olive oil to the lentils and stir well to combine the flavors.
- Blend Mixture: Transfer the seasoned lentils to a blender or food processor and blend until you achieve a smooth, spreadable consistency.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the blended lentil mixture evenly over it, forming a thin layer.
- Bake Wraps: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes until the mixture is firm and holds together when lifted.
- Cool and Cut: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the lentil layer cool completely. Once cooled, cut the baked mixture into wrap-sized pieces for serving.
Notes
- Fresh herbs are optional but add a nice flavor and freshness to the wraps.
- Make sure to blend the lentil mixture well to ensure a smooth texture that is easy to spread and hold together.
- Letting the wraps cool completely before cutting helps them hold their shape better.
- These wraps can be used as a base for various fillings such as veggies, hummus, or grilled meats.
