Description

These Lentil Wraps are a delicious, protein-packed alternative to traditional wraps, made from cooked lentils blended with spices and baked to perfection. They are perfect for a healthy lunch or snack and can be customized with your favorite fresh herbs for extra flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Lentil Wrap Ingredients

  • 1 cup lentils
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh herbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse Lentils: Rinse the lentils thoroughly under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris.
  2. Cook Lentils: In a pot, combine the rinsed lentils, 2 cups of water, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 20 to 25 minutes until the lentils are tender.
  3. Drain and Season: Drain any excess water from the cooked lentils. Add garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and olive oil to the lentils and stir well to combine the flavors.
  4. Blend Mixture: Transfer the seasoned lentils to a blender or food processor and blend until you achieve a smooth, spreadable consistency.
  5. Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the blended lentil mixture evenly over it, forming a thin layer.
  6. Bake Wraps: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes until the mixture is firm and holds together when lifted.
  7. Cool and Cut: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the lentil layer cool completely. Once cooled, cut the baked mixture into wrap-sized pieces for serving.

Notes

  • Fresh herbs are optional but add a nice flavor and freshness to the wraps.
  • Make sure to blend the lentil mixture well to ensure a smooth texture that is easy to spread and hold together.
  • Letting the wraps cool completely before cutting helps them hold their shape better.
  • These wraps can be used as a base for various fillings such as veggies, hummus, or grilled meats.
