Description

These Lucky Charms Treats are a fun and colorful twist on the classic marshmallow cereal treat. Made with melted marshmallows, butter, and plenty of Lucky Charms cereal, they’re easy to make and perfect for a sweet snack or party treat. Featuring the iconic marshmallow shapes both inside and sprinkled on top, they offer a delightful combination of crispy cereal texture and gooey marshmallow sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 7 cups Lucky Charms cereal (10 ounces, 275g)
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter (70g)
  • 7 cups mini marshmallows (12 ounces, 340g)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or foil. Optionally, spray the pan with nonstick cooking spray first to keep the lining in place.
  2. Prepare the Cereal: Measure out the Lucky Charms cereal, then carefully remove about â…“ cup of the colorful marshmallow pieces and set them aside for topping later.
  3. Melt the Marshmallows: In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the mini marshmallows and stir frequently using a silicone spatula until completely melted, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the pot from heat once melted.
  4. Combine Cereal and Marshmallow: Quickly add the measured Lucky Charms cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture and fold together gently but thoroughly. Work fast to prevent the marshmallows in the cereal from melting too much.
  5. Form the Treats: Pour the cereal and marshmallow mixture into the prepared baking pan. Use the silicone spatula or the butter wrapper to press the mixture evenly into the pan. Sprinkle the reserved marshmallow pieces on top and lightly press them into the surface.
  6. Cool and Cut: Allow the treats to cool completely for about 1 hour. Use the parchment paper to lift treats out of the pan, lightly grease a sharp knife, and cut into squares to serve.

Notes

  • Work quickly when mixing the cereal with melted marshmallows to prevent the cereal marshmallows from melting and losing their shape.
  • Greasing the knife before cutting helps achieve clean squares without sticking.
  • Store leftover treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days for best freshness.
  • For a fun variation, substitute gluten-free marshmallows and gluten-free cereal to make the treats gluten free.
