Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 4 tsp minced ginger
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
Sauce
- 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 6 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Noodles & Garnish
- 1 12-ounce box of linguine noodles
- 4 green onions, diced for garnish
- Toasted sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Brown the Ground Beef: In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook the lean ground beef along with minced ginger and garlic until the beef is fully browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat from the skillet to keep the dish lean.
- Prepare Pasta: While the beef is cooking, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the linguine noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Mix Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the low sodium soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and hoisin sauce until well combined.
- Combine Sauce and Beef: Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the browned ground beef. Stir it in and let it simmer briefly to allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to slightly thicken.
- Add Noodles: Add the cooked linguine noodles directly into the beef and sauce mixture. Toss everything together well in the skillet, cooking for another couple of minutes to coat the noodles thoroughly and heat through.
- Serve and Garnish: Serve the Mongolian ground beef noodles hot, garnished with diced green onions and toasted sesame seeds for a fresh, crunchy finish.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef to reduce fat and calories.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to control the spice level.
- You can substitute linguine with other long pasta like spaghetti or chow mein noodles for a different texture.
- For extra veggies, toss in sliced bell peppers or snap peas when adding the sauce.
- Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheat nicely on the stovetop or microwave.
