Description

A wholesome and naturally sweet no-bake date walnut slice made with pitted dates, crunchy walnuts, rolled oats, and rich cocoa powder. This easy-to-make treat is blended in a food processor and chilled to set, making it a perfect healthy snack or dessert without any baking.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups pitted dates (about 1215 dates)
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup almond butter (or peanut butter)
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, for added sweetness)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional, for extra nutrition)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dates: In a food processor, pulse the pitted dates until they form a sticky paste. If the dates are too dry, add a tablespoon of water to help them blend smoothly and achieve the right sticky consistency.
  2. Mix the Ingredients: Add chopped walnuts, rolled oats, cocoa powder, almond butter, honey or maple syrup (if using), vanilla extract, and sea salt to the food processor with the date paste. Blend everything together until well combined. The mixture should be sticky and hold together when pressed.
  3. Press the Mixture into a Pan: Line an 8×8-inch square pan with parchment paper. Transfer the blended mixture to the pan and press it down firmly with a spatula to form an even layer, ensuring it’s compacted well for firm slices.
  4. Chill the Slice: Refrigerate the pan for at least 2 hours or until the slice is firm and set, which makes it easier to cut and enjoy.
  5. Serve: Once chilled, slice the date walnut mixture into squares or bars. Serve and enjoy the naturally sweet and nutty flavors packed into this no-bake treat!

Notes

  • You can substitute almond butter with peanut butter or any nut butter of your choice.
  • Honey or maple syrup is optional depending on your desired sweetness level; dates already provide natural sweetness.
  • Chia seeds can be added for extra fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, but they are optional.
  • Store leftover slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a firmer texture, freeze the slice for 30 minutes before serving.
