Description

These Nutella Puff Pastries are a delightful and easy-to-make dessert featuring flaky puff pastry squares filled with rich Nutella hazelnut spread. Baked to golden perfection and dusted with confectioners’ sugar, they are perfect for serving warm or at room temperature for a delicious treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Pastry

  • 1 package prepared puff pastry (usually 2 sheets)

Filling and Topping

  • ¾ cup Nutella hazelnut spread
  • 2 eggs (1 for egg wash, 1 for filling and brushing)
  • 3 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the pastries.
  2. Prepare the puff pastry: Unroll the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut each sheet into 4 equal squares, making 8 squares total.
  3. Add Nutella filling: Place about 1 to 2 tablespoons of Nutella in the center of each pastry square.
  4. Apply egg wash around edges: Lightly beat one egg and brush the edges of each pastry square with this egg wash to help seal the pastries.
  5. Fold and seal pastries: Fold each square diagonally into a triangle or fold into a rectangle, pressing the edges firmly to ensure the filling doesn’t leak out.
  6. Arrange on baking sheet: Place the sealed pastries onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  7. Brush tops with egg wash: Beat the second egg and brush the tops of the pastries with this egg wash to give them a shiny, golden finish once baked.
  8. Bake pastries: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes until the pastries are puffed up and golden brown on top.
  9. Cool and dust pastry: Remove the pastries from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar for extra sweetness and presentation.
  10. Serve and enjoy: Serve the Nutella puff pastries warm or at room temperature for a delicious dessert or snack.

Notes

  • Ensure puff pastry is properly thawed before use to prevent tearing.
  • You can shape the pastries as triangles or rectangles depending on your preference.
  • Use an additional little flour dusting surface to prevent sticking while handling puff pastry.
  • The egg wash provides a glossy and golden appearance but can be omitted for a more rustic look.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days; reheat gently before serving.
