Description

This Oreo Pudding Poke Cake is a delicious and moist chocolate dessert featuring a chocolate fudge cake filled with creamy Oreo pudding and topped with whipped topping and crushed Oreo cookies. Perfect for parties or a sweet treat, this easy-to-make recipe combines classic chocolate cake with the rich flavors of Oreo pudding for a decadent experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Cake

  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) chocolate cake mix (Betty Crocker’s Chocolate Fudge cake mix)
  • Ingredients listed on cake mix box (eggs, oil, and water as required)

Pudding Filling

  • 2 boxes (4 ounces each) Instant Oreo pudding mix
  • 3 cups milk (2% or whole)

Topping

  • 1 tub (8 ounces) whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed
  • 6 Oreo cookies, crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with non-stick spray to prevent sticking and set it aside.
  2. Make and bake the cake: Prepare the chocolate cake batter according to the instructions on the box, which will include eggs, oil, and water. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake as directed, usually until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Once done, let the cake cool for about 10 minutes.
  3. Poke holes and prepare pudding: Using the handle of a wooden spoon or spatula, poke holes all over the warm cake spaced about 1 inch apart. In a medium bowl, whisk together the two boxes of Instant Oreo pudding mix with 3 cups of milk until combined and thickened, about one minute. The pudding may appear a bit lumpy due to the Oreo pieces in the mix.
  4. Fill the cake with pudding: Pour the pudding evenly over the warm cake, using the back of a spoon to spread it across the surface and gently pressing it into the holes to infuse the cake with pudding.
  5. Add whipped topping and Oreo crumbs: Spread the thawed whipped topping evenly over the pudding layer. Sprinkle the crushed Oreo cookies on top as a crunchy garnish.
  6. Chill and serve: Place the cake in the refrigerator and chill for at least one hour to allow flavors to meld and pudding to set. After chilling, cut into slices and serve.

Notes

  • Use whole milk for a creamier pudding texture, or 2% milk for a lighter option.
  • Ensure the cake is slightly warm before adding pudding to help it soak in better.
  • Allow the cake to chill thoroughly for the best flavor and texture.
  • You can substitute regular whipped cream for the Cool Whip if preferred.
  • Crushed Oreos on top add texture, but can be adjusted to your liking.
