Ingredients
Scale
Tea
- 4 cups water (for brewing tea)
- 4 black tea bags
Peach Syrup
- 2 large fresh peaches, sliced
- 2 cups water (for peach syrup)
- 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
Additional
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Fresh mint leaves, a handful (for garnish)
- Ice cubes, as needed
- Additional peach slices for garnish
Instructions
- Brew the tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, remove from heat, and steep the 4 black tea bags in the hot water for 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the tea bags and allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
- Make the peach syrup: In a saucepan, combine 2 cups of water and sliced fresh peaches. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 10 to 15 minutes until the peaches are soft and infused. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove solids. Return the syrup to the saucepan, add 1/2 cup sugar, and stir until the sugar completely dissolves. Let the syrup cool.
- Combine the tea and syrup: In a large pitcher, mix the cooled black tea and peach syrup together gently. Add 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice and stir to combine all flavors evenly.
- Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the peach iced tea over the ice, and garnish with fresh mint leaves and additional peach slices for a decorative touch. Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing taste.
Notes
- Adjust the sugar amount according to your preferred sweetness level or substitute with honey or a sugar alternative.
- For a stronger peach flavor, use ripe, fragrant peaches and increase the simmering time slightly.
- Peach iced tea can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- To make it vegan and vegetarian friendly, ensure sugar used is vegan-certified if required.
- Use cold brew tea method as an alternative to boiling to reduce bitterness.
