Description

These Rocky Road Brownies are a decadent twist on classic brownies, loaded with gooey miniature marshmallows, rich milk chocolate chips, and crunchy chopped walnuts. Perfectly baked in a 9×13-inch pan, they offer a delightful combination of fudgy texture and irresistible toppings, ideal for sharing at gatherings or enjoying as a comforting treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Base

  • 1 box (18.3 ounces) Fudge Brownie mix
  • Eggs, water, and oil as called for on box

Toppings

  • 1 bag (10 ounces) miniature marshmallows
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Prepare Brownie Batter: Follow the instructions on your fudge brownie mix box to prepare the batter. This usually involves combining the brownie mix with eggs, water, and oil as specified.
  2. Bake Brownies: Pour the prepared batter into a 9×13-inch baking dish and bake according to the package directions, typically around 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  3. Add Toppings: Immediately after removing the brownies from the oven, evenly sprinkle the miniature marshmallows over the hot surface. Then, distribute the milk chocolate chips and chopped walnuts evenly on top of the marshmallows.
  4. Cool: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the baking dish so the marshmallows set and toppings adhere well. Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use your favorite homemade brownie recipe if you prefer instead of the boxed mix.
  • Make sure to add the marshmallows and toppings right out of the oven so they melt slightly and stick well.
  • For crunchier walnuts, toast them lightly before chopping and adding.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • These brownies can be customized by using semisweet chocolate chips or pecans.
