Ingredients
Scale
Lasagna Noodles
- 12 San Giorgio lasagna noodles
Meat Sauce
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 26 oz pasta sauce (preferably marinara)
Cheese Mixture
- 32 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Topping Cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the lasagna.
- Cook the Noodles: Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to prevent sticking, then set aside.
- Prepare Meat Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic until browned, approximately 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary. Stir in the pasta sauce and mix until well combined.
- Prepare Ricotta Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, beaten eggs, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
- Assemble the Lasagna: In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread one third of the meat sauce evenly on the bottom. Layer with about 4 lasagna noodles, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles and sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
- Second Layer: Add another third of the meat sauce, a second layer of noodles, the remaining ricotta mixture, and another cup of mozzarella cheese.
- Final Layer: Place the remaining noodles, top with the remaining meat sauce, and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the lasagna is hot and bubbly.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it sit for about 15 minutes before slicing to allow it to set. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure to rinse noodles with cold water after boiling to prevent sticking.
- Be careful not to overcook the noodles or they may become mushy after baking.
- Drain excess fat from cooked beef to avoid a greasy sauce.
- Letting the lasagna rest after baking helps the layers set and makes slicing easier.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of Italian seasoning or red pepper flakes to the meat sauce if desired.
