Ingredients
Scale
Beef Patties
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 6 slices American cheese
Wraps and Toppings
- 6 leaves iceberg or romaine lettuce
- 1 medium tomato, sliced thin
- 1 small red onion, soaked in cold water for milder flavor
Spread
- 1/4 cup light mayo
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons dill pickle relish
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Cooking Surface: Heat a grill or skillet over medium heat to prepare for cooking the patties.
- Prepare Beef Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the lean ground beef with seasoned salt, black pepper, and dried oregano. Mix gently until well incorporated.
- Form Patties: Divide the beef mixture into 6 equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3-4 inches in diameter for even cooking.
- Cook Patties: Place patties on the preheated grill or skillet and cook for about 4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook another 4 minutes until fully cooked but still juicy.
- Melt Cheese: Add a slice of American cheese to each patty during the last minute of cooking, allowing it to melt slightly on top.
- Prepare Spread: In a small bowl, mix together light mayo, ketchup, and dill pickle relish. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Assemble Wraps: Lay a lettuce leaf flat, spread a spoonful of the prepared sauce onto it, place a cheesy patty on top, then add sliced tomato and onion.
- Serve: Fold the lettuce leaf around the filling tightly and serve immediately to enjoy the freshness and flavors.
Notes
- Soaking the red onion in cold water reduces pungency and adds a milder onion flavor.
- Using lean ground beef keeps the wraps lower in fat, making them a healthier choice.
- If preferred, substitute American cheese with cheddar or Swiss for varied flavors.
- For an extra crunch, add sliced pickles or shredded lettuce inside the wrap.
- These wraps are best eaten fresh to maintain the crispness of the lettuce.
