Description

This flavorful Shrimp Butter is a delightful compound butter made with fresh shrimp, garlic, lemon, and smoked paprika, perfect for enhancing steaks, seafood, pasta, grilled vegetables, or warm bread. Its creamy, zesty, and savory profile adds a gourmet touch to any dish with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails removed)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the shrimp: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the shrimp for 3–4 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the shrimp paste: Finely chop the cooked shrimp or pulse them in a food processor until minced, creating a shrimp paste.
  3. Combine ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, smoked paprika, and the prepared shrimp until well combined.
  4. Add parsley and season: Stir in the finely chopped fresh parsley, then season the mixture with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Shape and chill: Transfer the shrimp butter mixture onto a piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap and roll into a log shape. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up.
  6. Serve: Slice the cold shrimp butter into rounds or spread as desired on steaks, seafood, pasta, grilled vegetables, or warm bread.

Notes

  • Use as a finishing butter on steaks, seafood, pasta, grilled vegetables, or warm bread.
  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili flakes to the butter mixture.
