Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 12 ounces fettuccine pasta
Shrimp
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Sauce
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Garnish
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Extra Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
- Cook Pasta: Prepare the fettuccine according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside to keep warm.
- Cook Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- Make Alfredo Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned. Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer.
- Thicken Sauce: Stir in grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes if using. Continue stirring and cooking the sauce until it thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes.
- Toss Pasta with Sauce: Add the cooked fettuccine to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss thoroughly to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
- Add Shrimp: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and gently mix them into the pasta and sauce to combine everything evenly.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese over the top before serving hot.
Notes
- Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best flavor and smooth texture.
- For a lighter sauce, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half, but the sauce will be less rich.
- Add steamed broccoli or fresh spinach to incorporate extra vegetables and nutrients into the dish.
