Ingredients

Whole Wheat Spaghetti:

8 ounces

Olive Oil:

1 tablespoon

Unsalted Butter:

1 tablespoon

Garlic (minced):

4 cloves

Large Shrimp (peeled and deveined):

1 pound

Red Pepper Flakes (optional):

½ teaspoon

juice of 1 lemon

for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Whole Wheat Spaghetti: Prepare according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water.
  2. Sauté Garlic and Shrimp: In a skillet, heat olive oil and butter. Add garlic, shrimp, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Cook shrimp until pink, about 2–3 minutes per side. Set shrimp aside.
  3. Deglaze the Pan: Pour in white wine or broth and lemon juice. Simmer to reduce slightly, about 2–3 minutes.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Add cooked pasta and reserved water to the skillet. Toss to coat. Return shrimp to the pan and warm through.
  5. Finish and Serve: Sprinkle with parsley and lemon zest. Serve hot with Parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, reduce the butter and omit the Parmesan.
  • You can substitute zucchini noodles or gluten-free pasta if needed.
