Description

Strawberry Bingsu is a refreshing Korean shaved ice dessert featuring fluffy ice topped with fresh strawberries, sweetened condensed milk, and optional vanilla ice cream or red bean paste. Perfect for a quick and cool treat on warm days, it combines the sweetness of fruit and creamy toppings with a light, airy texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

Ice

  • 4 cups shaved ice

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream (optional)
  • 2 tbsp red bean paste (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Strawberries: Wash the strawberries thoroughly, then slice them and set them aside in a bowl, ready for topping.
  2. Prepare Shaved Ice: Freeze water overnight to create ice blocks suitable for shaving, or use pre-shaved ice to speed up the process.
  3. Assemble the Base: In serving bowls, pile the shaved ice into fluffy mounds, forming the base of the dessert.
  4. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk generously over the shaved ice to add sweetness and creaminess.
  5. Top with Strawberries and Extras: Arrange the sliced strawberries over the ice, then optionally add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and/or red bean paste for extra flavor and texture.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Add fresh mint leaves on top for a bright aroma and serve the dessert immediately before the ice melts.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • If you don’t have a shaved ice machine, crush ice finely using a blender or place ice cubes in a towel and crush with a rolling pin.
  • Optional toppings like vanilla ice cream and red bean paste add authentic Korean dessert elements but can be omitted for a lighter version.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the contrast between cold ice and sweet toppings before melting occurs.
