Scale
Main Ingredients
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup sugar cookie mix (dry mix from the pouch)
- 1 bag marshmallows (10 ounces, approximately 40 large marshmallows)
- 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
- 1/3 cup mini marshmallows
- 2 tbsp sprinkles (Christmas or other color)
- Additional sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Grease a 9″x13″ baking tray with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Melt Butter: Place a large pot on low heat and melt ½ cup of butter slowly to avoid burning.
- Add Sugar Cookie Mix: Stir in ½ cup sugar cookie mix to the melted butter, cooking and stirring continuously for 1 minute to blend flavors.
- Melt Marshmallows: Add the entire 10-ounce bag of large marshmallows and stir continuously until they are fully melted and combined evenly with the sugar cookie butter mixture.
- Mix Cereal: Remove the pot from heat, then add 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal. Gently fold the mixture with a spatula or wooden spoon, lightly sprayed with cooking spray to reduce sticking.
- Add Mini Marshmallows and Sprinkles: Incorporate 1/3 cup mini marshmallows and 2 tablespoons of sprinkles. Some mini marshmallows will melt slightly while others remain whole, adding texture.
- Spread Mixture: Gently press the mixture into an even layer in the prepared baking tray. Avoid pressing too hard to keep the treats light and airy.
- Decorate: Sprinkle additional sprinkles on top for a festive finish.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the treats to cool for 30 minutes until set. Cut into 18 to 24 squares and enjoy your festive Sugar Cookie Rice Krispies!
Notes
- Use cooking spray on your spatula or spoon to help prevent sticking when mixing the cereal and marshmallow mixture.
- Do not over-press the mixture in the pan to keep the treats light and crispy rather than dense.
- For best results, use fresh marshmallows and cereal to ensure proper texture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- Customize sprinkles based on the season or party theme for a personalized touch.
