Description

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by greasing it or lining with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Prepare wet ingredients: In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
  4. Combine wet and dry: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.
  5. Bake: Spread dough in the pan and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  6. Cool and cut: Cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
