This Beef and Broccoli Ramen Stir Fry is a quick and delicious meal combining tender sirloin steak, crisp broccoli, and perfectly cooked ramen noodles tossed in a flavorful homemade sauce. Ready in just 30 minutes, this stir fry features a savory blend of soy, hoisin, honey, garlic, and ginger for a satisfying dish that’s perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Sauce

  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • â…“ cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tablespoon grated ginger
  • â…› teaspoon cracked red pepper flakes

Main Ingredients

  • 2 (3 ounce) packages ramen noodles, seasoning packets discarded
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, trimmed of fat and sliced into 1 ½-inch strips (about ¼-inch thickness)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • ½ cup water
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce and cornstarch until smooth with no lumps. Add beef broth, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cracked red pepper flakes. Whisk everything thoroughly to combine. Set this flavorful sauce aside while preparing the rest of the dish.
  2. Cook Ramen Noodles: Bring a medium pot of water to a boil. Add the ramen noodles and cook just until tender, about 2-3 minutes, taking care not to overcook. Drain the noodles and rinse them under cold water to halt the cooking process. Drizzle with 1 teaspoon sesame oil and toss lightly to prevent sticking.
  3. Cook Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Season the sliced sirloin steak with kosher salt and black pepper. Add the steak to the hot skillet and let it sear undisturbed for about 3 minutes to develop a nice brown crust on one side. Stir and continue cooking for another 2 minutes until the steak is cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and drain any excess grease.
  4. Steam Broccoli: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil and the fresh broccoli florets. Pour in ½ cup water and cover the skillet to steam the broccoli for 2 minutes. The broccoli should become bright green and just tender without becoming mushy.
  5. Combine and Serve: Return the cooked steak to the skillet along with the drained ramen noodles. Stir the prepared sauce once more and pour it into the skillet with the other ingredients. Using tongs, toss everything together to coat evenly as the sauce warms and thickens, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes. Serve immediately, garnished with a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds for added texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Discard ramen seasoning packets to reduce sodium and control the flavor of the dish.
  • Rinsing noodles after cooking prevents them from becoming too soft or sticking together.
  • Steaming the broccoli preserves its bright color and crunch while keeping it tender.
  • Use a nonstick skillet for easy cooking and cleanup.
  • If preferred, substitute sirloin with flank steak or ribeye for a different flavor and texture.
  • Adjust the cracked red pepper flakes to control the level of heat in the dish.
