Ingredients
Scale
Bread & Spreads
- 3 slices of whole grain bread
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon butter
Proteins
- 4 slices of smoked bacon
- 2 large eggs
- 2 slices of cheddar cheese
Vegetables & Fruits
- 1 ripe tomato, thinly sliced
- 1 avocado, mashed
- Fresh lettuce leaves
Seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook bacon: Begin by cooking the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Once done, drain on paper towels to remove excess grease and set aside.
- Cook eggs: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until the whites are set but the yolks remain runny. Flip if preferred for over-easy eggs.
- Toast bread: Toast the bread slices until golden brown using a toaster or broil in the oven.
- Prepare bread with mayonnaise: Spread mayonnaise on one side of each toasted bread slice for added moisture and flavor.
- Assemble first layer: On the first slice, place fresh lettuce leaves, then layer with tomato slices and crispy bacon.
- Add second bread slice and avocado: Cover with the second slice of bread, mayonnaise side down, then spread mashed avocado evenly on the top side.
- Add eggs and cheese: Place the cooked eggs on top of the avocado layer, followed by the cheddar cheese slices.
- Top sandwich and serve: Place the final slice of bread on top, mayonnaise side down. Press gently to hold the sandwich together, secure with toothpicks if desired, and cut into halves or quarters for serving.
Notes
- To make the eggs fully cooked, cook longer or flip and cook on the other side.
- Adjust mayonnaise quantity to your taste or substitute with mustard or hummus for variation.
- Use gluten-free bread to make it suitable for gluten-free diets.
- To reduce fat, use turkey bacon or omit cheese.
- For extra flavor, add a dash of hot sauce or smoked paprika on the eggs.
