Description

Cheeseburger Egg Rolls combine all the classic flavors of a cheeseburger wrapped in a crispy fried egg roll wrapper. This fun and delicious appetizer features seasoned ground beef, onions, garlic, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and melted cheddar cheese, all deep-fried to golden perfection. Perfect for parties or a tasty snack, these egg rolls deliver the juicy cheeseburger taste you love with a satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup pickles, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Wraps and Frying

  • 12-16 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil, for frying (about 1-2 inches deep)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Filling: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until the onion is soft and translucent. Drain any excess fat from the skillet to avoid greasy filling.
  2. Add Seasonings and Cheese: Stir in the finely chopped pickles, ketchup, yellow mustard, salt, and pepper. Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly to make it easier to handle. Once cooled, fold in the shredded cheddar cheese thoroughly to combine.
  3. Assemble the Egg Rolls: Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean, flat surface with one corner facing towards you, resembling a diamond shape. Spoon about 2 to 3 tablespoons of the cheeseburger filling onto the center of the wrapper. Fold the bottom corner up over the filling, then fold in the left and right sides snugly. Roll the wrapper tightly away from you, and seal the top corner with a dab of water to keep it closed. Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  4. Fry the Egg Rolls: Heat about 1 to 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large, deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Carefully add a few egg rolls at a time, frying them for 2 to 3 minutes per side until they turn golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the egg rolls, and drag them onto a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  5. Serve: Serve the cheeseburger egg rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauces, such as ketchup, mustard, or ranch dressing for an extra burst of flavor.

Notes

  • Be sure not to overfill the egg roll wrappers to prevent them from bursting during frying.
  • Let the filling cool before adding cheese to prevent it from melting too much and making the wrappers soggy.
  • Maintain the oil temperature at 350°F for even cooking and crispy egg rolls.
  • You can customize the filling by adding diced tomatoes, jalapeños, or other favorite burger toppings.
  • Leftover egg rolls can be reheated in an oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
