Description

These Chili Lime Shrimp Wraps are a vibrant and refreshing dish featuring succulent shrimp seasoned with smoky spices, lime, and fresh garlic, all wrapped in crisp lettuce leaves with creamy avocado and zesty chili slices. Perfect for a quick, light meal bursting with bold flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp Mixture

  • 1 1/2 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • Zest of 2 fresh limes
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Wrap Fillings

  • 8 romaine or butter lettuce leaves, washed and dried
  • 1 large avocado, sliced
  • 1 handful fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1 red chili, thinly sliced
  • Juice of 2 fresh limes
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: Peel and devein the shrimp if necessary. In a mixing bowl, combine the shrimp with avocado oil, smoked paprika, ground cumin, minced garlic, lime zest, and freshly ground black pepper. Toss thoroughly to coat every shrimp evenly with the marinade.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the shrimp and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque, ensuring they are cooked through but tender.
  3. Prepare the Lettuce Leaves: While the shrimp cooks, wash and dry the lettuce leaves carefully. Set them aside on a clean plate or tray, ready for assembling the wraps.
  4. Assemble the Wraps: Spoon the cooked shrimp evenly into each lettuce leaf. Add a few slices of avocado on top, followed by fresh cilantro leaves and thinly sliced red chili for a bit of heat and freshness.
  5. Finish and Serve: Drizzle fresh lime juice over the assembled wraps, season lightly with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve immediately to enjoy the crispness of the lettuce and the vibrant flavors at their best.

Notes

  • You can substitute romaine or butter lettuce with iceberg lettuce or even large spinach leaves for a different texture.
  • Adjust the amount of red chili based on your preferred spice level, or omit it for a milder wrap.
  • If shrimp are frozen, ensure they are fully thawed and patted dry before marinating and cooking.
  • These wraps are best served fresh to maintain the crispness of the lettuce and the creaminess of the avocado.
