Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 1 package (17.3 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed
Filling
- 8 oz wheel of brie cheese
- 1 cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- 2-3 sprigs fresh thyme for garnish
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a mini muffin tin thoroughly to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a clean surface. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the pastry into 24 equal squares, sized to fit your mini muffin cups.
- Form Pastry Cups: Gently press each pastry square into the muffin tin cups, shaping them to form a little pastry cup that will hold the filling.
- Prepare Brie: Slice the brie wheel into 24 small cubes, approximately 1/2 inch each, ensuring consistent bite sizes.
- Fill Pastry Cups: Place one cube of brie cheese into each pastry cup, distributing evenly among all cups.
- Add Cranberry Sauce: Spoon about one tablespoon of cranberry sauce on top of each brie cube, giving a nice tart contrast to the rich cheese.
- Add Pecans (Optional): If desired, sprinkle chopped pecans on top of each bite for added texture and flavor.
- Apply Egg Wash (Optional): Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg to achieve a beautiful golden-brown finish during baking.
- Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown and the brie is melted and bubbly.
- Cool and Garnish: Remove from the oven and let the bites cool in the tin for a few minutes. Garnish each bite with fresh thyme sprigs before serving.
Notes
- Allow the puff pastry to thaw completely before rolling out to prevent cracking.
- Brie rind is edible; however, you may remove it if preferred for a milder flavor.
- If you don’t have a mini muffin tin, you can use a regular muffin tin, but adjust the pastry and filling sizes accordingly.
- For a vegan version, substitute brie with a plant-based cheese alternative and use a vegan puff pastry.
- These bites are best served warm but can be refrigerated and gently reheated before serving.
