Ingredients
Scale
Cake Batter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
Cinnamon Swirl
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 3 tbsp melted butter
Vanilla Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish thoroughly to prevent sticking.
- Make the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix everything until smooth and well combined, ensuring no lumps remain. Pour this batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Create the Cinnamon Swirl: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter until fully mixed. Drop spoonfuls of this cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter’s surface. Using a knife or skewer, gently swirl it into the batter to create a marbled effect without overmixing.
- Bake the Cake: Place the baking dish into the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. To check doneness, insert a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs attached.
- Prepare the Vanilla Glaze: While the cake is still warm, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk (starting with 2 tablespoons and adding more if needed for consistency), and vanilla extract until smooth and drizzleable.
- Glaze and Serve: Drizzle the vanilla glaze evenly over the warm cake. Let the cake cool slightly in the pan, then cut into squares and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use whole milk or substitute with buttermilk.
- You can add chopped nuts or raisins to the cinnamon swirl for added texture.
- If you prefer a thicker glaze, reduce the milk quantity.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
- Reheat slices gently in the microwave for a warm, fresh-baked taste.
