Ingredients
Scale
Sausage and Garlic
- 4 Italian sausages, sliced
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
Pasta and Sauce
- 12 ounces pasta (fettuccine or penne)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Garnish and Seasoning
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Sauté the Sausages: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the sliced Italian sausages. Cook them for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.
- Add Garlic and Butter: Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the minced garlic and butter to the skillet. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant and the butter melts, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Before draining, reserve about ½ cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta thoroughly.
- Make the Creamy Parmesan Sauce: Pour the heavy cream into the skillet with the sausages and garlic. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it melts completely and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss it with the creamy sausage sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
- Season and Garnish: Stir in the chopped fresh parsley along with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve the dish hot for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use Italian sausages with your preferred spice level, mild or hot.
- Reserve pasta water to adjust the sauce’s consistency without watering down flavor.
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese yields the best melting and flavor.
- For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a dairy alternative.
- Garnish with extra parsley or grated Parmesan for added color and taste.
