Ingredients
Scale
Seasoning Mix
- 1 tablespoon dried dill weed (Use fresh dill for a more vibrant flavor boost.)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (Adds savory depth.)
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt (Adjust to taste.)
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (For a dash of spiciness.)
Popcorn
- 2 tablespoons oil of choice (Opt for neutral-flavored oil.)
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels (Use top-quality kernels.)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (For rich flavor.)
- 1/4 cup dill pickle juice (The star ingredient for flavor.)
Instructions
- Prepare the Seasoning Mix: In a small bowl, combine the dried dill weed, garlic powder, fine sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Set this mixture aside to use after the popcorn is popped.
- Heat the Oil: In a large stockpot, pour in your oil of choice. Add three popcorn kernels to the pot and cover it. Place the pot over high heat to allow the oil to heat up.
- Test Popkernels: Wait until the test kernels pop, indicating that the oil is ready for popping the rest of the kernels.
- Pop the Popcorn: Add 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels to the pot and cover with the lid again. Keep the pot on high heat. As the popcorn starts popping, once the popping slows, slightly crack the lid to let the steam escape, preventing sogginess.
- Finish Popping: When the popping completely stops, remove the pot from heat and pour the popcorn into a large serving bowl.
- Melt Butter and Add Flavor: Melt the unsalted butter and drizzle it evenly over the popcorn. Then sprinkle the prepared seasoning mix and drizzle the dill pickle juice over the popcorn as well.
- Toss to Coat: Toss the popcorn thoroughly until evenly coated with the butter, seasoning, and dill pickle juice for that perfect dill pickle flavor.
Notes
- Use fresh dill instead of dried dill weed for a brighter, more vibrant flavor.
- Adjust salt amount to taste depending on the saltiness of your pickle juice.
- Cracking the lid slightly during popping allows steam to escape, keeping popcorn crisp.
- Use high-quality popcorn kernels for the best popping results.
- Store any leftover popcorn in an airtight container to maintain its freshness.
