Description

This Hot Honey Mango Tajín Margarita is a vibrant and spicy twist on the classic margarita, blending frozen mango purée with hot honey and Tajín spice for a refreshing and flavorful cocktail. Perfect for those who enjoy a hint of heat balanced with tropical sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Mango Purée

  • 1 cup frozen organic mango chunks
  • 1-2 tsp hot honey
  • Pinch of chili powder (optional)

For the Margarita

  • 2 oz spirit of your choice (tequila recommended)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ¾ oz Cointreau or other orange liqueur
  • ½ cup mango purée (prepared from above)
  • 1 cup ice
  • Tajín spice for rimming the glass
  • Lime wedge for garnish
  • 1 dried árbol pepper (for garnish and spice)

Instructions

  1. Make the Mango Purée: Blend the frozen mango chunks with hot honey and chili powder (if using) in a blender until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding a splash of water or lime juice if it’s too thick.
  2. Rim the Glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip the rim into Tajín spice to coat it evenly, adding a zesty, spicy flavor to each sip.
  3. Mix the Margarita: For a frozen margarita, combine the spirit, fresh lime juice, Cointreau, mango purée, and ice in a blender, then blend until smooth. For a shaken margarita, shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain into the Tajín-rimmed glass filled with fresh ice.
  4. Garnish & Serve: Drizzle a bit of hot honey inside the glass for added sweetness and spice. Rinse and deseed the dried árbol pepper if you prefer milder heat, or leave the seeds in for an intense kick. Add the pepper to the glass, then garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust the chili powder and dried árbol pepper amounts to control spice level according to your preference.
  • Use tequila as the spirit for a traditional margarita flavor or swap with mezcal for a smoky twist.
  • For a non-frozen version, shaking the ingredients instead of blending is a great alternative.
  • Hot honey can be substituted with regular honey infused with a pinch of cayenne or chili flakes.
  • Serve immediately after preparation to enjoy the freshest flavors and best texture.
