Chicken and Seasonings
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Toppings
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 8 slices cooked bacon
- 1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Garnish
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Chopped fresh parsley, optional
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C). Lightly grease a baking dish and set aside.
- Season the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry. Brush both sides with olive oil, then season evenly on both sides with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Sear the Chicken: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until they are lightly browned but not fully cooked through.
- Transfer to Baking Dish: Place the seared chicken breasts into the prepared baking dish.
- Add Sauce and Toppings: Spoon barbecue sauce evenly over each chicken breast. Layer each piece with 2 slices of cooked bacon, then top with Monterey Jack cheese and cheddar cheese.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with sliced green onions and chopped fresh parsley, if desired. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
Notes
- Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or rice for a complete meal.
- Use your favorite barbecue sauce to personalize the flavor profile.
- Chicken thighs can be used instead of chicken breasts for a juicier option.
