Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
- 16-20 Peeps (variety of colors)
- 6 tablespoons Butter
- Pastel Sprinkles, for decoration
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray to allow easy removal of the treats once set.
- Melt the Butter: In a large saucepan, melt the 6 tablespoons of butter over low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
- Add the Peeps: Once the butter has melted, add the 16-20 Peeps marshmallows to the saucepan. Stir continuously until the Peeps are completely melted and the mixture is smooth and gooey.
- Mix in the Cereal: Remove the saucepan from heat. Quickly add the 6 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal to the melted Peeps mixture. Fold gently with a spatula until the cereal is evenly coated.
- Transfer and Press: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan. Using a buttered spatula or wax paper, press the mixture evenly into the pan without compacting too much to keep the treats light and chewy.
- Add Sprinkles: Sprinkle pastel sprinkles evenly over the top while the mixture is still warm, lightly pressing them into the surface so they stick.
- Cool and Set: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30-40 minutes or until fully set. Once firm, cut into 12 squares and serve.
Notes
- You can vary the number of Peeps depending on how marshmallowy you prefer your treats; more Peeps will make them stickier and softer.
- If you cannot find Peeps, regular marshmallows can be used as a substitute, but the colorful effect will be lost.
- For easier mixing, use a large silicone spatula or wooden spoon.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
