Description

These Savory Kafta Kebabs are a delicious Middle Eastern grilled delight, made with lean ground beef mixed with aromatic spices, fresh onions, and parsley. Ready in just 30 minutes, they are perfect for a quick and flavorful barbecue meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Mixture

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp seven spice blend
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Onion and Parsley: Finely chop the quartered onion and fresh parsley using a food processor to create a finely minced mixture that will blend well with the meat.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, thoroughly mix the ground beef with the chopped onion-parsley mix, salt, black pepper, seven spice blend, and optional cayenne pepper. Use your hands to blend the ingredients evenly ensuring the spices are well distributed.
  3. Shape Kebabs: Mold the seasoned meat mixture onto skewers, forming them to a thickness of about 1 to 1.5 inches for even cooking.
  4. Preheat Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and brush it lightly with oil to prevent sticking and promote even grilling.
  5. Grill Kebabs: Place the kebabs on the grill and cook for approximately 4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and nicely charred on the outside.
  6. Serve: Remove the kebabs from the grill, discard any leftover skewers, and serve immediately while hot for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground lamb or a mix of beef and lamb for more traditional flavor.
  • If you don’t have seven spice blend, you may substitute with a mixture of cumin, allspice, paprika, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before grilling to prevent burning.
  • Serve with pita bread, tzatziki sauce, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
  • Leftover kebabs can be refrigerated and reheated but are best enjoyed fresh.
