Description

Sticky Beef Noodles combines tender marinated beef with vibrant vegetables and silky egg noodles, all tossed in a flavorful, sticky sauce made from soy, oyster, and hoisin sauces. This quick stir-fry dish is perfect for a satisfying weeknight meal, delivering a balanced blend of savory, sweet, and tangy flavors with a delightful umami punch.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Marinade

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced

Other Ingredients

  • 8 oz egg noodles or rice noodles
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, cornstarch, and vegetable oil until well coated. This tenderizes the meat and helps the sauce stick better.
  2. Rest the Marinade: Allow the beef to marinate for 15 to 30 minutes to absorb the flavors and develop a tender texture.
  3. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is well combined.
  4. Cook the Noodles: Boil the egg or rice noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the noodles and toss them lightly with a little oil to prevent sticking.
  5. Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes until the beef is browned but still tender. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.
  6. Stir-Fry the Vegetables: Using the same skillet, add the sliced bell pepper and broccoli florets. Stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp, maintaining their bright color and crunch.
  7. Combine and Sauce: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the prepared sauce and stir-fry everything together for 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat all ingredients evenly.
  8. Add Noodles: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss thoroughly to combine and coat the noodles with the sticky sauce.
  9. Serve and Garnish: Serve the sticky beef noodles hot, garnished with chopped green onions and a sprinkling of sesame seeds for added flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add chili flakes or fresh sliced chilies when stir-frying the vegetables.
  • Substitute beef with chicken or tofu for variation.
  • Use fresh ginger and garlic for the best aromatic flavor.
  • Ensure the skillet or wok is hot before stir-frying to get a nice sear and prevent steaming the ingredients.
  • Use cornstarch or arrowroot powder to help thicken the sauce and give it that sticky texture.
  • Make sure to toss noodles with oil after cooking to prevent clumping.
