Ingredients
Scale
Beef Marinade
- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Sauce
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
Other Ingredients
- 8 oz egg noodles or rice noodles
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, cornstarch, and vegetable oil until well coated. This tenderizes the meat and helps the sauce stick better.
- Rest the Marinade: Allow the beef to marinate for 15 to 30 minutes to absorb the flavors and develop a tender texture.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is well combined.
- Cook the Noodles: Boil the egg or rice noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the noodles and toss them lightly with a little oil to prevent sticking.
- Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes until the beef is browned but still tender. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.
- Stir-Fry the Vegetables: Using the same skillet, add the sliced bell pepper and broccoli florets. Stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp, maintaining their bright color and crunch.
- Combine and Sauce: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the prepared sauce and stir-fry everything together for 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat all ingredients evenly.
- Add Noodles: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss thoroughly to combine and coat the noodles with the sticky sauce.
- Serve and Garnish: Serve the sticky beef noodles hot, garnished with chopped green onions and a sprinkling of sesame seeds for added flavor and texture.
Notes
- For extra heat, add chili flakes or fresh sliced chilies when stir-frying the vegetables.
- Substitute beef with chicken or tofu for variation.
- Use fresh ginger and garlic for the best aromatic flavor.
- Ensure the skillet or wok is hot before stir-frying to get a nice sear and prevent steaming the ingredients.
- Use cornstarch or arrowroot powder to help thicken the sauce and give it that sticky texture.
- Make sure to toss noodles with oil after cooking to prevent clumping.
