Description

This Veal Taco Crescent Ring is a delicious and crowd-pleasing appetizer or main dish that combines seasoned ground veal with melty taco blend cheese and fresh green onions, all wrapped in flaky crescent dough. Perfect for parties or family dinners, this savory and cheesy crescent ring bakes to golden perfection, creating an impressive and easy-to-make meal with bold taco flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Mixture

  • 1 pound ground veal
  • 1 ounce taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup water

Assembly

  • 1 cup taco blend cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
  • 16 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls (2 cans, 8 oz each)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the crescent ring.
  2. Cook the Veal: Place the ground veal in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook the veal, breaking it up with a spoon, until it is completely cooked through and no longer pink.
  3. Season the Meat: Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water into the cooked veal. Simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Prepare Crescent Dough: Unroll both cans of crescent dough and separate them into 16 triangles. Let the dough soften slightly at room temperature to make it easier to handle.
  5. Arrange Dough on Baking Sheet: Lightly spray a large cookie sheet with non-stick spray. Arrange the triangles into a circle with the shorter sides forming a 5-inch diameter ring in the middle and points facing outward, overlapping the dough slightly.
  6. Add Filling: Evenly spread the veal mixture on the wide ends of the crescent triangles. Sprinkle sliced green onions and shredded taco blend cheese evenly over the meat layer.
  7. Fold and Seal: Fold the pointed ends of each crescent triangle over the filling and tuck them underneath the inside of the ring to secure the filling inside the dough.
  8. Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk the egg. Brush the egg wash over the top of the crescent dough to give a glossy, golden finish after baking.
  9. Bake: Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the crescent ring is puffed up and golden brown all over.
  10. Cool and Serve: Allow the crescent ring to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with your favorite taco toppings such as salsa, sour cream, or guacamole.

Notes

  • For a spicier flavor, add chopped jalapeños to the veal mixture when seasoning.
  • Make sure to use fresh refrigerated crescent rolls for best texture and rise.
  • The crescent ring can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated until ready to bake.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice the ring neatly after cooling slightly.
  • Serve with your favorite taco condiments to enhance the flavor experience.
